Since I decided not to go for the univeristy symphony orchestra's audition, i joined the un-audidioned wind orchestra instead...
well, it's just like PJ Youth or CHSB plus bassoon.haha~! u'll be amazed by the number of members we actually have..
imagine this(numbers are approximations): 20+ flutist, 20+ clarinetist, 5 oboes, 3 bassoons, 15 trumpets, 18 trombones, few euphoniums, few horns, 2 tubas, and some percussionist! isn't it HUGE???
so as you gueesed, the sound is really really BIG!! big band=big sound..
something quite disappointing for me is that the hardest piece they are playing is Jubilee Overture which is the one PJ Youth played as the opening during the HSBC wind festival finals..
okay.. i don't wana continue talking about it.. but everyone is just having fun playing music including the conductor.. or probably i'm too used to seriousness!
Last nite, the city council have this welcome reception for international students. met loads of ppl till i can't rmb their names alr.. should have taken more photos.. =p
Hitomi from Japan.. i know her b4 the event.. she is doing television studies if i've not mistaken! suppose to take the pic with Yakuri but too bad we can't find her in the crowd! she's sweet and nice.. *ignore the person with blue hair behind us.. i have no idea who that is! =p
2 Taiwanese postgrad(as i said, i can't rmb their names.. so sry! but i can rmb that the one on the most left is a teacher and she is doing a masters in education..), the Lord Mayor of Bristol, me and Annette.
We are then invited to visit the science museum next to the place of where the event is held.
Treasure the tropical rain forrest in Malaysia! ppl here have to plant these trees in a covered up hall with heater~!!
underwater world in the museum..
I'm just too delighted when i found the word Malaysia~!! it's written on a tv screen: Semporna, Malaysia(where is that??) - Home to species in our coral reef tank
